Types of stainless steel seamless pipes




 



Hot-rolled seamless pipes: Hot-rolled seamless pipes are pipes made by piercing heated steel billets and then rolling them. This manufacturing method has the advantages of simple process and high production efficiency, and is suitable for the production of large-diameter, thick-walled pipes.



 



Cold-drawn seamless pipes: Cold-drawn seamless pipes are pipes made by piercing hot-rolled pipes and then using a cold-drawing process. This manufacturing method can ensure the accuracy of pipe size and the excellent surface quality, and is suitable for making pipes with high precision requirements.



 






Main production process of hot rolling




 



Round steel → re-inspection → peeling → cutting → centering → heating → perforation → pickling → flat head → inspection and grinding → cold rolling (cold drawing) → degreasing → heat treatment → straightening → cutting (sizing) → pickling/passivation → finished product inspection (eddy current, ultrasound, water pressure) → packaging and storage.



 



Scope of application: ASTM A213 Seamless Stainless Steel Tubes suitable for boilers, superheaters, heat exchangers and other similar high temperature and high pressure environments. These steel pipes need to have good high temperature resistance, high pressure resistance and corrosion resistance to ensure safe operation and long service life under harsh working conditions.



 



Grade and chemical composition: The chemical composition requirements of various grades of alloy steel pipes are specified. The chemical composition of different grades of steel pipes varies to meet different performance requirements. For example, common grades include T2, T5, T11, T12, T22, T91, etc. The chemical composition of each grade includes carbon (C), silicon (Si), manganese (Mn), phosphorus (P), sulfur (S), chromium (Cr), nickel (Ni), molybdenum (Mo) and other elements. The content range is clearly specified. For example, the carbon content of T11 grade is required to be between 0.05% and 0.15%, and the chromium content is between 1.00% and 1.50%.



 



Size specifications: Covers the requirements of dimensions such as outer diameter and wall thickness. The outer diameter range usually ranges from smaller sizes such as 1/8 inch (about 3.18 mm) to larger sizes such as tens of inches. The wall thickness also has a corresponding range according to different outer diameters and usage requirements.
